The Road to Migrating 100+ Services to Kubernetes
TransferWise is going through the process of migrating all their services (+150) from bare-metal to AWS, using Kubernetes as the main orchestrator. We have made a lot of decisions and learned a lot of lessons in the road. Listen to one of our London-based Tech Leads, Jose Galarza, who will share his learnings about using Kubernetes.
What will the audience learn from this talk?
Theory and practise are two very different things. We have accomplished a migration of around 150 services from a bare metal datacenter to a public cloud (AWS), using docker a kubernetes in around 6 months. I think it can be very useful (as it was for me when we started) to share with the community the technical decisions we made and the lessons we learned in the process.
Does it feature code examples and/or live coding?
A little bit of DSLs (terraform) in the slides, and no live coding.
Prerequisite attendee experience level:
Level 300
The audience should have previous knowledge with docker, kubernetes, and a little bit with AWS.
