Microservices with Service Meshes - What's Behind the Hype?
In Jörg Müller's opinion microservices solve many problems but also create new ones. Many of these new problems are caused by communication in distributed systems.
Service meshes want to create a solution for this, which microservices can automatically benefit from without having to change their code. This idea is so convincing that several implementations of this concept have been created in recent years.
This session is intended to help you make the right decisions for your own architecture and addresses the following question: Which problems do service meshes solve? How do they work? What are the requirements for using them? Which implementation is the right one? Examples based on implementations like Istio or Linkerd 2 will help to better understand the concepts.
In this talk, you'll learn:
- How to make the right decision for your architecture
- Why there is a hype about service meshes, what they solve and how they work
